We accidentally ended up there. The N10 shop, which has connections to the best view led us in to look at bags. We did, but also took pictures. All the shops around N10 get you access to the Instagram spot. Take a few shops and...More

Fascinating and unique place. It must be accessed from one of the surrounding leather's shops. The place stinks due to the skins and feces of the animals. In my opinion a must see in Fes, especially from westerners's eyes.

I visited this tannery in March 2019 and found myself duly fascinated by the process, the history and the people. I'm glad to have seen it.

You must see the Chaouwara tanneries when in Fes/Fez. Don’t bother with the smaller tanneries, no matter what the endless parade of faux guides insist. Ignore the dozens of pesky touts and go to No.10 for a great balcony view, mint leaves to mask the...More

Vats of water filled with pigeon poo and leather on one side. Then the vats of colored dyes on the other really provide insight in to the leather processing that happens for your fancy handbag and other leather products. Fortunately the wind was blowing the...More

We came into the tannery on our tour and felt overall the tannery staff were more interested in selling than telling so though it was interesting and smelly, I wish we had heard a bit more about the process. Not a great experience for animal...More
