I took the metro 4 until Nanmen and then walked. With 40 yuan entrance fee is it well worth it. I did not go up the pagode (extra charge), as so hot that day. I agree with it being nicer than Humble Administrator's Garden: much...More

The Panmen Gate is located in the south west corner of the Gusu Garden (Gusu Yuan). It is part of the only major piece of the Suzhou city wall still in existence and once operated as a water gate defending the city behind the wall....More

I thought Panmen Gate was much more superior to the Humble Administrator's Garden. I probably would never have gone here if it wasn't for a recommendation from a guy who was staying at the same hostel as me in Shanghai, but I'm very glad I...More

Easily reached by subway or local bus. Scenery is beautiful with lakes, pagoda, bridges and garden. I highly recommended you to visit as the place is well kept and very clean, you can spend about 1-2 hours taking lots of pictures.

We stayed at the Pan Pacific and entry was included. The gardens are stunning and vast. Information on most sights was also in English which was very helpful and interesting.

Quite historic and a fairly decent restoration. You have to go in and walk around if you want to appreciate the significance of this fortification. You won’t be disappointed. Part of the other grounds in the surrounding gardens are also quite nice. If in the...More
