Our stay in Berlin could not have been better and the apartments at Gorki really topped off our visit. We stayed 4 nights and had a category 2 with balcony overlooking the lively little street below. Renovated to a very high standard and run by a group of incredibly friendly and ever helpful staff, Gorki won our hearts. Location is perfect with many of the sights of Berlin a walk away and simply walk out the door and across the road for excellent coffee and an incredible bakery plus numerous bars and cafes.

We feel so blessed to have found the Gorki Apartments - it is all that we hoped for and more. Firstly the location. The Gorki Apartments are situated in an up and coming area of the former East Berlin. It is surrounded by interesting bars, bistros, restaurants and cafes. The front entrance is nestled between a really cool restaurant and a great bar (that also does food). On the street there is a mini market, a pharmacy and a bakery as well as a tram stop and the U Bahn (literally a minutes walk). From there it’s only a couple of stops to Alexanderplatz and therefore all of Berlin. That said we walked to the Brandenburg Gate and it took about 45 mins. Check in at the Gorki is quick and efficient and the staff are absolutely lovely (and excellent English speakers). We were offered a seat and a hot or cold drink on arrival which after a long day traveling was most welcome! We had requested a Bose Soundsystem for our room (free) which we picked up as we checked in. Then we were shown to our room on the 4th Floor. The room - wow! Massively spacious, beautifully appointed, fantastic design, warm and welcoming (we arrived in Winter). Can’t fault a thing and some great touches - Dyson Hairdryer, coffee machine, dishwasher, massive shower head, very comfortable bed. We loved being in our room - it quickly felt like home which hotel rooms rarely do. Our room faced into the courtyard and was very quiet. The room was cleaned everyday by incredibly friendly and polite staff. Nothing was too much trouble ever - getting taxis, directions, advice. Customer service is absolutely exceptional. If you are thinking of visiting Berlin don’t go for a boring hotel - go for the home from home experience of the Gorki. It made us feel like real Berliners (albeit briefly). Highly recommended and we are already planning a swift return. Well done Gorki staff!

Gorki Apartments is an amazing place to stay in the middle of Berlin. Specious and luxurious apartments in a stylish ambiance. I booked an apartment with balcony along the Weinbergsweg with blue bathroom and kitchen. The team allows dogs which was perfect for this city break, a park right next door and easily located in the city. Your stay will be a mix of hotel services but with great privacy to do what you want, you can even cook. For breakfast you can pick three rastaurants in the street. I found it slightly overpriced due to renovation works next door which at times was way too loud but I did not want to complain, I was there to enjoy the city!!!

Stayed in Gorki end of July for 5 nights. We liked the vibe of the apartments and the services/facilities offered by the friendly Gorki Team. Nothing seemed to be to much trouble, if we needed anything, we just What’s App’d the team and they would get back to us immediately, invariably with a knock at the door delivering what we had requested. The Apartments are located in a lively part of Mitte, with plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. We used the free bikes to get around as well as Uber, with Uber never more than 2 minutes away anytime of the night or day. Would stay here again next time in Berlin.

I have read the many great reviews of this property and decided to give it a shot. This property is rated #1 of all 5 star properties in Berlin. I also stayed at the #2 (Hotel am Steinplatz) and #3 (The Mandala Hotel) on this trip...so I have some perspective...you can read my reviews of those property as well. First the good. The neighborhood is very lively. Right next to the property, there are bars and restaurants with lots of people at all times of the day and especially night. You can also walk to Maurerpark and to the Berlin Wall Memorial from this property. The metro is very close (U8 station Rosenthaler Platz). The building itself is quite charming. It is mostly decorated with what appears to be antique-style pieces. I booked the "Categorky 1" apartment with balcony, which is the biggest and most expensive one for a traveler looking for a one bedroom unit...I was told. The beer is free and the staff tries hard. Now the not so good. This is not a 5 star property. First, there was no air-conditioning. The room was hot and stuffy as soon as I entered. To their credit, when I asked if they had air conditioning, they put a portable unit in my room. Unfortunately, this meant opening the large window and sticking a hose that looked like a dryer hose out the window...which meant that the window needed to be open with all the noise from the street below coming through....and the unit was very loud. Second, the property itself was not at the level of a 5 start property. The cabinet that held the safe and the robes, which looked quite cheap had a damaged door hinge that made a terrible creaking sound and did not close properly. The wash basin was blocked up. There was a musty odor. There were damaged trim-work. In general, the property just felt like someone's old apartment. This may seem like a lot of little things but that is what distinguishes a 5 star property from a nice Air B&B property. Of the 3 places I stayed at, this was the most expensive. You can read the reviews of the others. Obviously many people loved the property. In the final analysis, it comes down to personal preference.
