This is a relatively easy (2/5) walk through forest to the rapids and whirlpool - 45 minutes to an hour each way. Saturday and Sunday are busy so go somewhere else if you want peace and quiet. And pee before you go. The outhouse at the narrows is filthy, complete with rat.

This is a good walk - approx 4 km from the car park to the whirlpools. Check the tide times for the best time to see them,

The walk through spectacular moss-covered forest is great.

We bought lunch/cookies from the small bakery/cafe just next to the car park. Nice :-)

This is a good walk not too strenuous from the car park to the whirlpools/rapids c 4 km each way. You need to check the tide times for the best time to see them, tide tables are available from various places and online.

The hike through the rainforest was fabulous and it was not too hilly but you would require a moderate level of fitness To enjoy yourself. It was a 4Km hike to reach the shore where we timed our trip to arrive at low tide. Seeing the whirlpools at the low tide was a bit anti-climactic but our children were very excited with the variety of sea stars they found in the water. There were many different species including some huge purple ones. The weather wasn’t great but under the trees you didn’t really notice.
Stop and grab a yummy cinnamon bun at the cafe as well.

If you tire easily maybe the trail into Skookumchuck isn’t for you. I wouldn’t rate it as a challenging hike but it is 45 min each way. When we went, there was a troop of Boy Scouts there on the rocks and it was great to see their excitement over the sea life near the water’s edge. Sea Anenomies and loads of different kinds of colourful sea stars were evident at low tide. I have been on this trail several times and would go again. The parking is free, there are outhouses in the trail and there are two look out points.

Be sure to take your own water & snacks as there is no concession.
