Wonderful hike today into Skookumchuck Rapids. Saw kayaker and a surfer both. Score. Wonderful hike in through 2nd or 3rd growth timber. Some reviews say trail is easy mostly flat. Wrong. There is actually a fair amount of up and down and you have to be careful not to trip over rocks and tree roots on 2nd half of trail. Wouldn't suggest for people out of shape, knee issues or balance problems. It should be rated moderate not easy. Fine trail for people of all ages if in moderate shape and strong knees and good balance. Enjoy.

We went on this hike as it was proclaimed as "easy" - I have a bad knee injury which prevents me from taking tougher hikes. Unfortunately, by the end of the hike (wherein you choose to view the whirlpools or rapids) we were hit with extremely rocky paths with many "ups and downs". I toughed it out since we went so far and we made it to the end. Sadly, there are no places to sit down and rest (except the dirty and sharp rocks) once you get to the end of the trail. The hike back was absolutely terrible and the sharp pain in my knee would not stop. I spent the entire next day on bed-rest because I could not lift my leg! Perhaps the advertisements should have warned about this?? [To be honest, the view was definitely not worth the hike, pain or bed-rest...]

We stated from the West Coast Wilderness Lodge so the bonus of stopping at the bakery and picked up a coffee there and cucumber mint water to go . The trail is well worn and amazing lush Forrest passing by Brown Lake and ending at the Narrows. Twice a day the tide changes direction while millions of gallons rush though the narrows. 2 hour round trip ( if not stopping for photos ) and an outhouse just before the narrows on the trail it makes for a perfect destination

Beautiful park to walk through and many people miss the beauty of the trees in the haste to get to the whirlpool and the Rapids. The walk is about an hour or 4km each way. Not too difficult but there are some hills along the way.

It’s a good hour walk to get to this nature point. Go to Roland Pt, turn right at the “t” just before the end of your hike. Interesting natural phenomenon but not sure it’s worth the hike. If your lucky you’ll see kayakers or surfers working the rushing water. Gives what you are seeing more meaning.

Beautiful old growth Forrest on your hike, so it’s gives you a nice feeling of what this area was like 100’s of years ago.

Take advantage of the ice cream bus on the side of the road when you finish
